UNIVERSITY OF ILLINOIS AAS STUDENT INTERNSHIP

The University of Illinois Asian American Studies (AAS) offers students the opportunity to gain valuable experience and knowledge in Asian American Studies through its internship program. The internship can be taken for 3 credit hours under AAS 290 Individual Study. The 290 course meets weekly for an hour and a half to discuss readings and films on the field of Asian American Studies. Interns also help with various program events throughout the semester and are responsible for two projects and weekly response papers.

Why do the internship? The internship is a great opportunity for students who are interested in learning more about AAS and Asian American issues and will allow students to become involved in the program on campus. The experience will provide students practical training and allow you to network with nationally invited speakers and presenters. It will also provide students a deeper understanding of key Asian American issues and the role of AAS in higher education. Additionally, the experience can help further students' explorations into Asian American issues and identity formation. The internship can be applied toward the minor in AAS. The internship is a small seminar course which allows for personal discussion and one-on-one feedback.

For more information: If you are interested in the internship and would like more information, contact AAS at (217) 244-9530.

"It was like a freshman discovery class, only difference was that I learned about my identity."

"This internship opened up resources that I never knew existed for Asian Americans at UIUC."

"Every Asian American student MUST take this course!"
